The 4066 is better than the 401 B because the 401 B has a lower internal resistance when the switches are on. In the basic application the circuit is used as shown in Figure. The switches are on when the control input is “1 In the digital mode, pin 7 is grounded. When operating with analog signals, pin 14 will be connected to a +5 V source and pin 7 to a -5 V source. The maximum amplitude of analog signals applied to the input may not exceed the power-supply voltage. The maximum control frequency is 8 MHz when the circuit is powered from a power supply of 10 V.
