Using a sensitive reed relay (20 mA or less) it is possible to drive a high-power load from TTL outputs, such as those on a PC's parallel port. The Triac can be any of the ICT series. The circuit is from a 1990 Electronics Handbook. The Triac must be equipped with a heat radiator, depending on the controlled load.
