This amplifier produces a few hundred milliwatts of Input 100 pF audio over a load of 4 or 8 ohms and can be powered by standard batteries. Its 25 gain and input impedance are sufficient to make it useful as an audio step for projects such as transceivers, experimental radios, etc. The LM386 is an integrated circuit from National Semiconductor. The potentiometer at the input acts as a volume control.
