The oscillator illustrated in the figure can be used to generate signals ranging from 100 kHz to a few tens of megahertz, depending on the crystal used. The power supply can be supplied with voltages from 9 to 15 V and the capacitor in series with the crystal must be ceramic. The RF shock is 1 mH for a frequency between 100 kHz and 1 MHz and can be reduced for higher frequencies. The junction field effect transistor (JFET) supports equivalents such as the BF245 and MPF102.
