The frequency of this oscillator is determined only by the crystal, without the use of tuned circuits. The circuit operates with crystals from 300 kHz. The maximum frequency is determined by the transistors used. To use NPN, simply reverse the polarity of the power supply. The BC558 can be used for frequencies up to some tens of megahertz.
